Neurotoxins

(aka: Wrinkle Relaxers)

Neurotoxins are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed worldwide. When injected into a specific area, neurotoxins relax the muscles underneath the skin, which softens or eliminates wrinkles caused by overactive muscles.

  • The goal of treatment with neurotoxins (common brands include Botox, Dysport and Daxxify) is to smooth away expression lines and wrinkles. The neurotoxins temporarily relax targeted facial muscles reducing the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and preventing the formation of new lines.

  • Good candidates for neurotoxins are those seeking a minimally invasive way to improve and prevent wrinkles caused by facial expressions – such as frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet, and neck lines.

  • Typical treatment sessions are performed in the office. The skin is cleansed, and multiple injections are performed with a very small, fine needle. The type of neurotoxin, specific areas treated, and dosing are customized to you.

  • Immediately after treatment, you will notice pinpoint redness and swelling that may look like small mosquito bites in areas injected which typically resolve within an hour. The effects of neurotoxin are noticeable after a few days and can last about 3–4 months on average.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable gels, often made of hyaluronic acid—a substance naturally occurring in the skin—that restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours.

  • The goal of treatment with dermal fillers is to restore volume, smooth lines and enhance facial contours without surgery or downtime. We use dermal fillers composed of hyaluronic acid (such as Restylane, Juvederm, and RHA collection by Teoxane).

  • Good candidates for dermal fillers are those seeking improvement in volume loss or deep facial lines or those wanting to enhance natural features. Common treatment areas include the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, under-eyes and jawline. 

  • The skin is cleansed, and topical numbing cream is applied if desired. Many fillers also contain lidocaine to enhance your comfort during the procedure. Using a fine needle or cannula, the filler is carefully injected into the desired area to add volume, smooth wrinkles or enhance contours.  

  • Fillers provide immediate results with mild swelling, bruising and redness that can be noticeable for a few days. You can return to most normal activities following injections, although we recommend you refrain from vigorous exercise the day of the procedure to minimize the potential for bruising. Results can last for 6-18 months depending on the product used and the area treated.

Sculptra

(a.k.a Biostimulator)

Sculptra is an injectable treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural collagen production. Sculptra works gradually to improve overall facial volume loss, soften deep folds, and enhance skin firmness and texture over time.

  • The goal of treatment with biostimulators is to restore lost volume in the face and improve the skin texture and thickness by stimulating your body’s production of collagen over time. Treatment results in a more youthful, natural-looking appearance with subtle, yet noticeable results. 

  • Good candidates for biostimulators  are those seeking to restore lost volume, soften deep facial lines and improve the texture of crepey skin.  You will  notice an improvement in skin tone and texture as collagen production is stimulated.

  • The skin is cleansed, and topical numbing cream is applied if desired. Sculptra is mixed with  lidocaine to enhance your comfort during the procedure. Using a fine needle or cannula, the filler is carefully injected into the desired area to add volume, smooth wrinkles or enhance contours.  

  • You can return to most normal activities following injections, although we recommend you refrain from vigorous exercise the day of the procedure to minimize the potential for bruising. Several treatments are needed for best results, and the effects are shown to last for up to two years after the first treatment.
